João Pedro Amorim Páscoa Borher, working under the pseudonym Páscoa, is a Brazilian multidisciplinary artist and researcher based in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
They were raised in Europe, thus not sharing the same upbringing as their family and Brazilian peers which lead them to explore their relationship with their origins. Their artistic practice is a tool of dialogue between their relatives, their country, their culture, the communities they are part of and themselves. They express the importance of connecting to their ancestry, since, by comparing other’s experiences to theirs, they can identify the dynamics between Europe and Latin America, whilst reflecting on what it means to be foreign.
They’ve often stated that they feel at an intersection of languages, cultures, and continents. They often work on research based projects that explore Brazil’s history or their personal history.
They also enjoy curating resources about Brazil’s history, art, and politics and making them accessible to a foreign public.
